Old Skool Photo - Opening Day 1989

Opening Day, April 14, 1989 vs Oakland Athletics. The Sox lost 7-4. There was a power outage at the stadium during the game, which knocked out everything including the scoreboard. I got to be on the field for a promotional event and had my picture taken. This is before the festivities got underway. Dennis DeYoung of Styx sang the NA and I shared an umbrella with him while we were waiting to get underway. Richard M. Daley, running for Mayor, threw out the first pitch and I shook his hand as he came off the field.

My jacket is a bright green/aqua color. I may be partly visible in the lower left of this color photo taken during the pre-game ceremonies.
