We do NOT have an above average 1-8 line up and a solid bullpen.
Franklin deserves a "golden parachute" for his failure. Actually we, also, do NOT have a dominating closer.
TLR is one of the best managers given the talent that St. Louis has. TLR does micro-manage too much. PERSONALLY - If I played for him, then I would be thinking too much (especially at crunch time and increasing my chances of failure). Instead of my talent and experience allowing my instincts to take over I would be constantly caught in a chess match on a baseball diamond resulting in my PEEING in my pants. Girardi or Tracy are very good and would be easier to play for.
For next year: replace the pitching and hitting coach. Matt Holliday will NOT be a Cardinal. The medical staff needs "health care reform"
I have NEVER understood the pitching philosophy of "pitching to contact" --- NO contact would be my goal.
Our batters do NOT have enough patience and discipline at the plate. It would be nice to have a better RISP %{ too many LOB}. Too much wild swinging and upper-cut swings for the home run.
Our organization has too many health/injury issues. Could be that we have been trying to cultivate too many older retreads.
I have been a Cardinal fan since the early 60's. Will always love them and be a die-hard fan .... win or lose.
